Call me naive

…but I’ve never thought much about how playing a gay character as an actor can damage your career.
Now, while I was looking for updates on the work of favourite director Craig Borham I noticed a feature called “Gay4Pay” which is more or less a collection of interviews on this very issue that he did with a couple of actors who played “gay” in his films. BTW it’s a shame that this actually IS an issue!
And well, what can I say, I suddenly remembered some offensive comments on my postings here on LLLL about Miles Szantos in “Ostia” or “Drowning” or Jordan Rodriguez and Tom Green (they were not even playing a gay couple) in “Dance Academy” (mostly from disappointed female fans) which I had just deleted back then.
Now that I’m reflecting more on this issue I can only admire the courage of young actors who take on the challenge of playing a gay character.
